Magazine Rack Glossary Terms
Below is a glossary of some of the terms used in reference to magazine rack styles and materials:
Acrylic
Acrylic is a glassy thermoplastic material used in the manufacturing of many see-through magazine display racks. Acrylic is also sometimes called acrylic glass. Common acrylic tradenames are Plexiglas and Lucite.

Countertop Magazine Rack
A magazine rack designed to sit on a countertop or table surface. Countertop magazine racks typically feature anywhere from 2 to 8 pockets.
Freestanding Magazine Rack
A magazine rack designed to stand on a floor. Also known as a floor magazine rack.
Magazine Rack
A tiered or columned device created for the storage and display of magazines, pamphlets, brochures, and other reading or informational materials.
PETG (Glycol Modified Polyethylene Terephthalate)
A thermoplastic resin sometimes used in magazine rack manufacturing. PETG is naturally colorless and transparent, strong, impact-resistant, and fully recyclable.
Plastic Magazine Rack
A transparent magazine rack made from acrylic or PETG.
Pockets
Pockets are the spaces in a magazine rack for storing magazines, brochures, or pamphlets. Magazine rack pockets are typically arranged in columns or tiers.
Rotating Magazine Rack
A floor magazine rack with three or four adjacent vertical display columns. Rotating magazine racks are designed to rotate in a full circle.
Wall Magazine Rack
A magazine rack designed to be mounted to a wall.
